NINE wins bronze Pentaward for Mothers Dilemma

Mother’s Dilemma – Marked by Nature – is a biodegradable paper bottle concept strong enough to hold carbonated liquids. The concept illustrates an early visualized ambition of an on-going innovation project within BillerudKorsnäs, where NINE is a part of the concern and also a part of the core team in the first phase. A team of engineers, economists and designers as well as external partners like EcoXpac are working to deliver an industrialized solution for liquids by 2018.

NINE and BillerudKorsnäs will work with one brand owner per consumer segment to develop early concepts together with us based on early tech development possibilities. These concepts based on leading brands vision & their consumer needs will act as input to the innovation project team.

This way of collaborating in the value chain, unifying technology push with market pull in a parallel project process, is focused within five opportunity areas:

  1. Paper Bottles
  2. Digitalization of Packaging
  3. Dry Foods Solutions
  4. E-commerce Packaging Systems
  5. Formable Paper

These projects are co-financed early innovation projects between BillerudKorsnäs, NINE and select brand owners.

The aim is to increase the pace of packaging innovation and differentiating market & end-user driven solutions in BillerudKorsnäs prioritized segments and to improve sustainability within packaging. Pre-studies are available for each of these areas.

During the fall we are exploring possible future opportunity areas through a Smarter Paper Hackathon in Stockholm in November. Participating sponsors and experts will have access to the result of the event.
